Common sense says that if a mac truck is heading for you at 60 MPH you will make every effort to get out of it's way. You will be Dedicated to preserving your life. You will be committed to finding safety out of harms way. Your motivation will be Life and you will be resolute in obtaining your goal of avoiding pain and death at the impact of that 18 wheeler against your body.

In the same way an unhealthy lifestyle is that mac truck barreling down on us at 60 MPH as we stand in the middle of the highway of life. Common sense says that we should act like we would if it was a real clear and present danger to us, much like that mac truck. Eating unhealthy is like smoking on our danger scale. When I was a smoker I never looked at the end game results, I always figured I had time. Is that not like many of us today? There is tomorrow to start making healthy choices, right? One thing I learned about tomorrow and that is that it comes and goes many times over before we realize it. Another fact about tomorrow, we just do not know what it holds. When those last minutes are slipping away will be regret that we never made those healthy choices all those yesterdays ago? Grant it that there are some situations beyond our control but, even then will we regret that we did not live or enjoy life to the fullest because of our unhealthy choices of all those yesterdays?

I am committed to making those healthy choices and I want you to be as well. I do not want to do this alone! I am not saying a drastic life style change right this second, right this moment in time. What I an resolute to do is to start choosing the healthier option and moving forward. Instead of that chocolate eclair I will choose strawberries and grapes. Instead of Dr. Pepper, I will choose Unsweetened Tea or even better, Infused Water. Instead of waiting to pick up the mail as I pull as close as I can with the car, I will walk to the mail box. I will be dedicated to improving my life one healthy choice at a time. I will make my commitment before you all to cherish my life and to honor my God by respecting this body He has blessed me with and living my life to the fullest with that breath of Life He has granted me. Will you join me? Just a healthy choice away from a new life. A health choice away from freedom from the bondage of over eating and the emotional ups and downs of being obese.

I am enthusiastic about becoming a “Nutritarian,” as coined by Dr,. Joel Fuhrman. But, I have lacked engaging this plan fully. Do not get me wrong, I have started making those healthy choices and I do blow it. I am resolute about my goal and I will achieve it. But, just an interesting note; Though I have not been 100% committed I am still seeing benefits. Today I woke up and I checked my vitals and here they are:

Blood Pressure: 111/71

Pulse: 67

Oxygen: 99/98 (Set Free From Smoking closing in on 100 days Now, Praise God!)

Blood Sugar: 105

I can not wait to see what my body will be like when I am 100% on track!

The Plan!

Greetings friend, thank you for reading my temporarily boring blog.  I promise if you do not give up on checking back now and then the reading will become more interesting.  Recently, through a family member exposed me to the teachings and diet plan of Dr. Joel Fuhrman.

I decided not to weigh myself all the time and count calories all the time and be subject to the emotional mountaintops and valleys of that adventure.  Instead, I will make healthier choices and follow the basics of Dr. Fuhrman’s teachings.  In addition, I will put to use, finally, my Nutribullet and start drinking a detox drink every morning.  The only hindrance to my plan is the fact that I am on a very low-income form disability. I know, if I am serious then, NO EXSCUSES!

Thus, here is the basic idea on what to eat from the plan daily.

ü  ½ Cup of Beans

ü  3 Fresh fruits

ü  1oz. Raw Nuts & Seeds (1 tbsp. Seeds daily)

ü  1 Large Salad as a main dish

ü  1 Double Portion of Steamed Green Vegies

ü  Mushrooms or ½ Cup Onions

The whole idea is to eat raw and get away completely from processed foods!

There are recipes that Dr. Fuhrman provides with various other ingredients.  He also shows you how to make your salad dressing. As for me, I found something that is very simple that I love very much on a salad, which is Fresh squeezed Lime Juice! Mmmmm… soooo Gooood!  I am drooling now!

As for my Nutribullet Detox project:

ü  1 Apple

ü  1 Pear

ü  Pineapple

ü  Spinach

ü  Water

Something new that my beautiful boss recently exposed me to, thank you Jonda Marshall, is Infused water with fresh fruit.  Does not that sound delicious?

Here are their benefits to help with detoxification energy and hydration.

put as much fruit in water as you like and let the water sit for at least 30 minutes before drinking

ü  Green tea, mint, lime-fat burning, digestion, headaches, congestion and breath freshener.

ü  Strawberry,kiwi-cardiovascular health, immune system protection, blood sugar regulation, digestion.

ü  Cucumber, lime, lemon- water weight management, bloating, appetite control, hydration, digestion .

ü  Lemon, lime, orange- digestion vitamin C, immune defense, heartburn.

ü  (drink this one at room temperature)

Do not keep longer than 48 hours you can put more water using the same fruit, but discard after 48 hours.

Now, I must point out she shared this with me off a post from her Facebook.  In other words, thank you to who shared that and to its creator. Ms. Marshall nor do I accept any credit (or Liability) for the above recipes concerning the infused water drinks.

On that note, I so plan to use the recipes to boost immunity every day along with the congestion recipes since fall and winter are knocking on the door.  I had pneumonia about a year ago and I refuse to get it again!  I am already ahead on defense against that because, thank God Almighty in Heaven, He delivered me cold turkey from cigarettes!

I must note that after only two days of somewhat following this, well 95% following, my blood pressure, that usually was 130+/88+  was  117/77.  I cannot wait to see what is next!

I plan to start using resistance bands and then when I am less than 350 pounds I will start riding a bike again, I am so excited about that!  I have a dream to actually ride one day from Houston to Austin and then from Houston To California, where I was born. Then my ultimate goal is to cross the United States on a bike.  Hey SPARKS! Do you want to sponsor me?  J  LoL.

Here I Go Again-My Story - Video Included

People are going to see this and proclaim with conviction, "You are not alone!"
The problem there is that you can be alone with 25 people in the same room with you.  You may have well intentions or make statements out of a feel of duty or perhaps out of IAS ( Inappropriate attention seeking), whatever the reason you just do not see the big picture.

People who struggle against weight do feel alone and in their fight they are alone.  It is they that have to make the decisions about life and death.  It is they that have to make a choice to make an effort.  It is they that fight the demons that attack to discourage, it is they that have to fight all the negative thoughts that have accumulated over their life.  it is they that must face down the fears of the past, the future, failure, and of success.  It is they that have to walk down that lonely path  they have been down a hundred times, no a thousand times before.

Thank you for trying to make us feel better by telling us that we are not alone.  Thank you for wanting to be there.  Thank you that it is a fact that with you we are not alone in that sense and it makes us feel better.  But,  There are areas of life where we stand alone and can only wave at those on the outside and smile.  Many times that smile is a show just to throw people off.  However the greatest things you can do for us is...

1) Pray for us.
2) Encourage us.

When I say encourage us that does not mean harp on our failures, don't throw them in our face.  When you throw peoples failures and mistakes in their face you become part of the problem!  Don't comment on how much good food we are eating and don't sit there and remark to people any sickness or issues we have that are related to our weight.  Respect our life, our feelings, our hopes and our dreams. Last but not least, If you can not say anything nice... Then shut your mouth!
